Position Summary
The Business Development Manager is responsible for driving growth across both direct OEM and distribution accounts for the Actuator Product Line. This role focuses on strengthening existing relationships while proactively identifying and developing new business opportunities.
Key responsibilities include expanding into underserved markets, targeting competitive displacement opportunities, and increasing actuator adoption across new applications and industries.
This position combines direct sales efforts with distributor support and enablement. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of hydraulics and pneumatics, along with the ability to effectively engage customers on both technical and commercial topics. A disciplined, growth-oriented mindset is essential.
Travel of up to 50% is required.
While this role primarily supports the Actuator Product Line, responsibilities may evolve based on business needs and strategic initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive actuator sales through direct customer engagement and distributor support
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities through prospecting, cold calling, and networking
- Build and maintain strong relationships with OEM and distribution customers
- Partner with distributors through joint sales calls, training, and ongoing support
- Develop and deliver tailored sales and marketing presentations
- Support the development and execution of territory and account-level sales plans
- Prepare proposals, quotations, and technical submissions
- Present and close sales opportunities aligned with company objectives
- Gather and communicate market and competitive intelligence
- Collaborate with Engineering, Operations, and Customer Service to meet customer needs
- Support sales forecasting, pipeline management, and reporting
- Assist with collections as needed to maintain healthy customer accounts
- Provide regular updates and reports to Sales Management
Education & Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or a related technical field required
- CFPHS (Certified Fluid Power Hydraulic Specialist) or other IFPS certification preferred
Experience
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in technical sales, business development, or account management
- Proven success representing a manufacturer within a distributor-based sales model
- Experience with hydraulic and/or pneumatic products required
- Experience working with both direct customers and distribution channels preferred
