What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Finance position at Avero?
Our client in the South Bend, IN area is seeking a Director of Finance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead day-to-day accounting operations, including month-end and year-end close activities, financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting
- Oversee inventory accounting processes including inventory valuation, reconciliations, physical inventory procedures, cost of goods sold (COGS), and inventory-related financial reporting.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal controls, audits, tax requirements, and other regulatory standards.
- Partner with executive leadership to provide financial analysis, performance reporting, and strategic recommendations that support organizational growth.
- Lead financial systems optimization efforts and identify opportunities for process improvements, automation, and operational efficiencies.
Key Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; MBA preferred.
- 8 years of progressive accounting and financial leadership experience.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
- Experience within a product-based, manufacturing, distribution, wholesale, or inventory-driven environment with direct exposure to inventory accounting, physical inventory processes, costing, and COGS.
- Experience leading accounting operations, managing ERP/accounting systems, and developing accounting teams.
- Proven ability to communicate financial information to executive leadership and influence business decisions through data-driven analysis.
