Controls Technician - Middlebury, IN (Direct Hire)
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Controls Technician will oversee high volume automation manufacturing lines, with a focus on robotic welding systems. This role centers on modifying and troubleshooting FANUC robotic welding equipment, as well as supporting PLCs and HMIs on a newly expanded production line.
STARTING PAY RANGE:
- $80,000/yr. - $100,000/yr.
AVAILABLE SHIFTS:
- 1st Shift, Monday - Friday (6:00 AM - 3:30 PM)
- 2nd Shift, Monday - Friday
**2nd shift includes off-shift differential = $2.88/hr.**
**Expect 40 - 45 hrs/wk.**
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support new automation systems for a high-volume shelving manufacturing line, with emphasis on robotic welding equipment.
- Develop, modify, and optimize FANUC robot programs for welding applications
- Perform robot teaching, touch-ups, and recovery
- Support rapid program adjustments to address production changes, process improvements, and quality issues.
- Troubleshoot robot alarms, motion issues, and sequence ladder logic
- Troubleshoot and modify PLCs, HMIs, and robotics, including modifications to existing code
- Assists and guides support personnel (Technicians, Maintenance, Tool and Die, etc.) in technical matters as needed.
- Develops, installs, and maintains optimum processes for the safe manufacture of quality product in a productive manner.
- Coordinates successful corrections to production problems using sound manufacturing engineering problem-solving techniques and practices
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- Hands-on experience with Allen Bradley controls
- Proficiency in PLC modification and troubleshooting, particularly with Rockwell and Studio 5000 platforms.
- Troubleshooting experience with FANUC and ABB robotics
- Ability to diagnose and resolve robot alarms, motion issues, and sequence ladder logic problems in a production environment.
- Experience working with automation systems, including PLCs, HMIs, and robotic cells in a manufacturing setting.
- Strong electrical troubleshooting skills
- Ability to develop plans for accomplishing assigned work and set priorities with a proper sense of urgency.
- Average to above average PC Skills
NICE-TO-HAVE SKILLS:
- Knowledge of machine programming systems.
- Experience troubleshooting HAAS CNC equipment
- Experience with Siemens or Mitsubishi PLCs/controls
- Hands-on experience with ABB or Yaskawa robotics
