Avantic Medical Laboratory, located in Edison, NJ, is seeking a highly motivated Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) Support Specialist to maintain, optimize and support laboratory information system (LabGen) and integrated EHR platforms.
This role is critical to ensuring accurate test ordering, result reporting, system reliability, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency across multiple laboratory sites.
The LIS Specialist will work closely with laboratory leadership, QA, IT vendors, and clinical users to implement system enhancements, support daily operations, and drive projects to completion in a regulated clinical laboratory environment.
This is an office-based position for the candidates who can easily commute every day to our office in Edison, NJ
Responsibilities
- LIS & EHR Support
- Implement, configure, upgrade, and support LabGen LIS and integrated EHR systems
- Manage test builds, reference ranges, result formatting, reflex rules, and interfaces
- Support analyzer interfaces and troubleshoot data flow issues between instruments, LIS, and EHR
- Ensure accurate specimen tracking, result transmission, and report delivery
- Application Support & Maintenance
- Provide ongoing support for live LIS/EHR applications, including direct user support (on-site and remote)
- Respond promptly to system issues, downtime events, and user requests
- Participate in on-call or after-hours support as required for system stability
- Perform routine system audits, updates, and validation documentation
- Project Management & System Enhancements
- Participate in and guide the design, development, testing, implementation, and maintenance of new and existing LIS/EHR functionality
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously and drive projects to completion in a complex laboratory environment
- Coordinate system upgrades, new test implementations, and workflow improvements
- Support validation and verification activities related to LIS changes (CLIA/CAP compliance)
- Training & User Support
- Provide LIS and EHR training to laboratory staff, supervisors, and end users
- Develop and maintain user guides, SOPs, and training materials
- Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) for LabGen functionality and laboratory workflows
- Collaboration & Liaison Role
- Act as a liaison between laboratory operations, QA, compliance, IT vendors, and external partners
- Collaborate with QA to support CAP, CLIA, NJDOH, and NYDOH inspection readiness
- Assist with interface troubleshooting and communication with external reference labs and EHR vendors
- Multi-Site Support
- Travel to Avantic Laboratory sites as needed to support system implementations, troubleshooting, training, and go-live activities
- Ensure consistency of LIS configuration and workflows across all locations
- Maintain strict confidentiality at all times
- Other duties as needed
Qualifications
- Required Minimum 3 years of experience in healthcare or laboratory information systems
- Hands-on experience with Labgen LIS or equivalent laboratory information system
- Experience supporting clinical laboratory workflows (pre-analytical, analytical, post-analytical)
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills
- Willingness to travel between laboratory sites
- Preferred
- Experience with EHR integration and clinical interfaces
- Prior experience supporting applications used in:
- Clinical operations
- Revenue cycle and billing
- Patient reporting and portals
- Familiarity with CLIA, CAP, and state regulatory requirements
- Experience in system validation, test builds, and interface testing
- Demonstrated professionalism in phone etiquette and customer support roles
- Must be very friendly and a Team Player
- The Candidate will be required to pass the background check and drug test
Edication
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required
- IT-specific degree not required; candidates with healthcare, laboratory, or clinical backgrounds and LIS experience are strongly encouraged to apply

Schedule:
Full-Time, Monday - Friday, 9am - 5:30pm
