Employment Schedule: 11 monthsOverview: The Dean is a professional member of the leadership team. The Dean is instrumental in making sure that student behavior supports the mission, goals, and objectives of Avant Garde Academy. The Dean reports directly to the Principal.Requirements: Master’s Degree preferred Valid teaching certificationMinimum of 3 years of teaching or school-based leadership experienceStrong organizational and communication skillsAbility to work effectively with students, staff, and familiesDuties and Responsibilities:AdministrativeSupervise all discipline policies and procedures. Enforce all such policies.Investigate student disciplinary issues and determine next steps neededAdjudicate consequences following the district’s Discipline MatrixKeep accurate records of incidents and outcomesProvide monthly reports of students with habitual infractions.Confer with parents and teachers concerning disciplinary issues and maintain appropriate documentation of all communicationImplement, support and monitor the schoolwide PBIS program Collaborate with teachers and RTI Coordinator regarding behavior interventions Lead and support preventive initiatives to reduce behavior issues before they occur Provide for professional development for teachers with respect to disciplinary best practices.Serve as a member of the Attendance CommitteeSupervisionHall MonitoringAssist with daily school operationsSupervise students during non-class timesSupport emergency drills and safety proceduresBe a visible presence around the school Part-Time Test Coordinator:Schedules and administers all progress monitoring tools as well as district proficiency and standardized assessments.
