Avance Homes is a custom home builder based in Salem, Utah, dedicated to crafting well-designed, high-quality residences for families throughout the region. We're growing our design team and looking for a talented Residential Designer to help bring our clients' custom home visions to life.
About the Role
We're seeking a full-time Residential Designer to create custom home plans from initial concept through construction-ready drawings. You'll work closely with clients, sales staff, and our construction team to design homes that balance client vision, buildability, and budget — from first sketch to final permit set.
What You'll Do
- Meet with clients to understand their needs, style preferences, and budget, translating them into custom home designs
- Develop floor plans, elevations, and design details for new custom homes and remodels
- Produce accurate, construction-ready drawing sets using AutoCAD and/or Revit
- Coordinate with structural engineers, city/county planning departments, and internal construction teams to keep designs code-compliant and buildable
- Revise plans based on client feedback, field conditions, and engineering input
- Maintain organized project files and manage multiple designs at various stages simultaneously
- Stay current on Utah residential building codes and local jurisdiction requirements
What We're Looking For
- 3 years of experience in residential design, with a portfolio that includes custom home work
- Proficiency in Chief Architect and/or Revit (required)
- Strong understanding of residential construction methods, materials, and building codes
- Excellent communication skills — comfortable presenting design concepts directly to clients
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- A keen eye for both aesthetics and practical buildability
- Experience working with custom home builders or architecture firms is a plus
- Must have experience in interior designs
