Salary Range: $120,000 – $150,000

The Associate Director of Development is a new role to Avail’s growing development team. This senior-level role will lead a high-potential caseload of current and prospective donors in the New York City and tri-state area. The Associate Director will serve as a key external representative of Avail, engaging donors in one-on-one meetings, both independently and in collaboration with the CEO and Chief Development Officer.
This role supports the Chief Development Officer in the creation and execution of the annual fundraising plan, including strategies to retain, grow, and add mid-level (4–5 figure) and major (5–7 figure) gifts. The Associate Director works closely with the development team to ensure the annual calendar supports fundraising and donor engagement goals, including annual giving, campaigns, planned giving, and year-end efforts.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES
Donor Portfolio Management
- Manage a portfolio of approximately 100–125 major and mid-level donors
- Conduct 100–125 donor visits annually
- Re-engage lapsed donors and identify new prospects
- Develop individualized donor strategies
- Prepare donor proposals and reports
- Track donor activity using Salesforce CRM
Donor Experience
- Oversee donor onboarding and stewardship
- Serve as primary contact for donor inquiries
- Manage acknowledgement processes
Donor Communications & Engagement
- Collaborate on donor messaging strategies
- Represent Avail at community events and conferences
- Maintain church partnerships
Development Operations & Strategy
- Support annual fundraising plan
- Manage development calendar
- Assist with team leadership and event execution
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree or CFRE preferred
- Minimum 5 years nonprofit development experience
- Proven success with major gifts
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Salesforce experience preferred
- Alignment with Avail’s mission and Christian faith
