Financial Controller
Position: Financial Controller

Position Summary
The Financial Controller is responsible for establishing financial discipline, operational transparency, and profitability analysis across the organization. This role goes beyond traditional accounting to provide leadership with accurate financial insights, cost controls, and strategic guidance that improve margins and drive long-term profitability.
The Controller will oversee financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cost management, and internal controls while partnering with leadership to improve gross margins, control expenses, and optimize operational performance.
The ideal candidate combines strong accounting expertise with operational thinking and financial leadership.
Key ResponsibilitiesFinancial Reporting & Accuracy
- Prepare and maintain accurate monthly financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow).
- Close monthly financials within 10 business days.
- Maintain GAAP-compliant accounting practices.
- Ensure all financial records and reconciliations are accurate and complete.
Profitability Analysis
- Develop detailed reporting on:
- Gross margin by product
- Gross margin by project/job
- Gross margin by customer
- Gross margin by salesperson
- Identify margin leakage and recommend corrective action.
- Provide financial insight to leadership for pricing and strategic decisions.
Budgeting & Forecasting
- Lead annual budgeting process.
- Develop rolling 12-month financial forecasts.
- Monitor department budgets and provide monthly variance analysis.
- Identify cost trends and implement corrective actions.
Cost Control & Expense Management
- Establish financial controls to manage operating expenses.
- Monitor departmental spending against budget.
- Identify opportunities for cost reduction and operational efficiency.
Inventory & Cost of Goods Oversight
- Track inventory levels and turnover.
- Monitor purchasing costs and cost of goods sold.
- Identify slow-moving or obsolete inventory.
- Work with operations to improve inventory efficiency.
Operational Financial Support
Partner with leadership on:
- pricing strategy
- profitability improvement
- capital investments
- operational efficiency
Provide financial analysis that supports better decision-making across the organization.
Internal Controls & Compliance
- Implement and maintain strong financial controls.
- Ensure compliance with tax, regulatory, and financial reporting requirements.
- Prevent fraud, financial errors, and revenue leakage.
Cash Flow Management
- Manage accounts receivable and accounts payable processes.
- Maintain healthy working capital.
- Monitor cash flow forecasts and liquidity.
Leadership & Communication
- Communicate financial performance clearly to leadership.
- Provide actionable insights rather than just financial reports.
- Help leadership understand the financial impact of operational decisions.
QualificationsEducation
Bachelor’s degree in:
- Accounting
- Finance
- Business Administration
CPA preferred but not required.
Experience
- 5–7 years accounting/finance experience
- 2 years in a Controller or senior finance role
- Experience in manufacturing, distribution, or industrial companies preferred
- Experience with inventory management

This position will have salary plus an agressive, performance bonus structure.
Pay: $80,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year
