What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director Of Marketing position at AUZO?
Job Title: Director of Marketing
Location: Southern California Markets
Employment Type: Full-Time
AUZO is an early-stage startup in the automotive and mobility space, focused on making car ownership and auto services more convenient through technology and trusted networks. We’re preparing to launch in Southern California with plans to expand into additional markets. More detailed information about our product, partners, and go-to-market plans will be shared with candidates later in the interview process. We’re now looking for our first senior marketing leader to build AUZO’s marketing engine from the ground up — defining the brand, strategy, and playbook that will drive our growth.
The Role
The Director of Marketing will own the development and execution of AUZO’s overall marketing strategy, from zero to one. This role is heavily strategy-focused: you’ll define how we create awareness, generate demand, and retain users, with a particular emphasis on marketing-led affiliate, referral, and partner programs.
You’ll set the brand direction, craft our positioning and messaging, design scalable campaigns, and run our social media presence. You’ll work closely with Partnerships, Sales, and Operations so that marketing programs generate qualified leads, support partner success, and tie directly to growth targets.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop AUZO’s end-to-end marketing strategy and roadmap, with a strong focus on affiliate, referral, and partner-support programs as key growth channels.
- Define and evolve AUZO’s brand identity, voice, and messaging across all audiences.
- Design and manage marketing-led affiliate and referral programs (e.g., influencers, referrals), including structure, incentives, and tracking.
- Support the Partnerships team by creating partner enablement assets (co-branded materials, campaigns, and playbooks) that help them sign and activate partners — without owning the sales/contract side.
- Plan and execute campaigns to drive app downloads, bookings, and inbound interest from potential partners.
- Own AUZO’s social media presence, including content planning, posting, basic community engagement, and performance tracking.
- Develop and optimize marketing funnels (landing pages, email sequences, retargeting) to improve conversion and retention.
- Analyze campaign and program performance (for example: cost per new user, value per user, performance by affiliate) and adjust strategy based on results.
- Collaborate with Partnerships and Sales to ensure marketing is delivering qualified leads and demand, while Partnerships closes and manages the relationships.
- Lead community-building efforts and referral programs to increase awareness, trust, and word-of-mouth in target markets.
- Proven experience in growth marketing, brand management, and/or digital marketing, ideally in a startup or early-stage environment.
- Demonstrated track record building or scaling affiliate, partner, or referral programs.
- Strong strategic mindset with the ability to design a marketing plan from the ground up and then execute it.
- Solid understanding of performance marketing and funnel-building, including basic analytics and attribution.
- Excellent communication, storytelling, and copywriting skills.
- Experience managing social media channels for a brand.
- Comfortable working cross-functionally with founders, operations, and sales teams.
- Creative, resourceful, and comfortable operating in a lean, fast-moving startup environment.
- Be the founding marketing leader shaping AUZO’s brand, growth strategy, and affiliate network from day one.
- Competitive salary stock options.
- Significant growth opportunity as we expand into new markets and scale the team.
- Collaborative, high-energy startup culture with direct access to founders and key decisions.
