Automatic Fire Systems, Inc., a leading fire protection and plumbing contractor with over 40 years of experience providing design engineering, fabrication, and installation services for fire sprinkler systems across Northern Illinois, Chicagoland, and Southern Wisconsin, is seeking qualified candidates for a Field Operations Coordinator position.
We’re looking for a highly organized, detail-oriented person to handle manpower scheduling and field coordination for a busy fire protection operation. This role keeps our job sites properly staffed, communicates with project managers, and ensures daily work gets done efficiently and on time.
Responsibilities
- Schedule manpower for fire protection job sites
- Assign technicians based on skillset, availability, and project needs
- Communicate daily with project managers, supervisors, and field staff
- Adjust schedules quickly when changes come up (call-offs, delays, emergencies)
- Track technician hours, job progress, and upcoming labor needs
- Maintain accurate calendars, manpower logs, and job status notes
- Ensure crews arrive prepared with necessary information
- Support project managers with coordination and documentation as needed
- Help keep job workflows smooth, communicated, and accountable
Qualifications
- Experience in scheduling, dispatching, coordination, or construction admin
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to multitask and stay calm under pressure
- Comfortable using scheduling software, spreadsheets, and digital tools
- Knowledge of construction, fire protection, plumbing, or related trades is a plus
- Problem-solver with good judgment and time-management skills
