ARE YOU THE A-LEVEL AUTOMOTIVE TECHNICIAN OUR TEAM NEEDS?
- 5 years of total technician experience, including 36 – 48 months at A-Level or equivalent advanced technician role
- Strong ability to interpret vehicle data and perform diagnostics using modern scan tools and scopes
- Experience repairing driveline and drivetrain components
- Proficiency with CAN bus system diagnostics and troubleshooting
- Ability to mentor and support junior technicians as a team player
- EPA Section 609 certification or willingness to obtain
- Valid driver's license with a clean record
- Professional-grade tool set
ASE certifications are preferred but not required.
WHAT VITAL ASSISTANCE DO YOU PROVIDE?
This is a full-time, permanent position based in Chicago. As an A-Level Automotive Technician, you will spend your day working independently on complex diagnostic and repair challenges. You will use vehicle-generated data, scan tool outputs, and advanced equipment like oscilloscopes to troubleshoot drivability issues, electrical faults, and CAN-bus system problems. You will diagnose and repair driveline components, including transmissions, differentials, and drive shafts, ensuring vehicles are returned to customers running at their best. Around 90% of the vehicles you see will require drivability diagnostics, and you will confidently take on those challenges. While you focus on advanced work, you will also serve as a mentor to junior technicians by sharing best practices and guiding their growth. Your day will also include accurately documenting your work and collaborating with service advisors to keep communication clear and professional.
