What are the responsibilities and job description for the Automotive Service Advisor position at Auto Select?
Are you a people person with a passion for cars? As an Automotive Service Advisor, you will be the face of our service center. Your primary goal is to ensure every customer feels heard, respected, and confident in the care their vehicle is receiving. You will translate complex mechanical issues into easy-to-understand language, provide accurate estimates, and keep customers informed every step of the way.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet and Advise: Welcome clients upon arrival, actively listen to their vehicle concerns, and ask clarifying questions to accurately document symptoms.
- Generate Estimates: Prepare clear and accurate cost estimates for labor and parts, explaining recommended repairs and routine maintenance needs.
- Bridge the Gap: Communicate effectively with automotive technicians to monitor repair progress, verify findings, and ensure work is completed on time.
- Keep Customers Informed: Provide proactive updates to customers regarding the status of their vehicles, any changes to the estimate, and expected completion times.
- Ensure Satisfaction: Conduct a thorough review of the final invoice with the customer, process payments, and schedule future service appointments.
What We’re Looking For
- Experience: Previous experience as a Service Advisor or in a high-volume customer service/sales role (automotive experience is highly preferred).
- Communication Skills: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with a knack for translating "mechanic-speak" into plain English.
- Tech-Savvy: Proficiency with automotive service software (e.g., CDK, Reynolds & Reynolds, Mitchell1) and basic computer skills.
- Problem Solver: Ability to remain calm under pressure, resolve customer complaints gracefully, and juggle multiple priorities in a busy environment.
- Requirements: A valid driver’s license, a clean driving record, and a high school diploma or equivalent.
