Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Behavioral Health Technician to join our healthcare team. This role involves providing direct patient care and support to individuals with various behavioral health needs, including developmental disabilities, autism, PTSD, and addiction. The ideal candidate will have experience working with children and adults in clinical or community settings, demonstrating strong skills in crisis intervention, behavior management, and medical documentation. The Behavioral Health Technician plays a vital role in supporting treatment plans, ensuring patient safety, and promoting positive behavioral outcomes within a compassionate environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with patient intake assessments and maintain accurate medical records in compliance with HIPAA regulations
  • Monitor and record vital signs and other health data during patient interactions
  • Implement behavior management strategies based on applied behavior analysis (ABA) techniques and individualized treatment plans
  • Administer medications as prescribed and document medication administration accurately
  • Provide support for patients with developmental disabilities, autism, PTSD, and addiction issues through therapeutic activities and patient care
  • Respond effectively to crisis situations using crisis intervention and crisis management skills to ensure safety for patients and staff
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including social workers, medical staff, and special education professionals to coordinate care
  • Collect data related to patient behaviors, progress, and treatment effectiveness for ongoing evaluation
  • Assist with medical documentation including progress notes, incident reports, and behavioral records
  • Support patients during daily activities while promoting independence and positive behavior change

Skills

  • Experience working with children and adults with developmental disabilities or autism spectrum disorder (ASD)
  • Strong crisis intervention and crisis management abilities to handle emergency situations calmly and effectively
  • Knowledge of PTSD care, addiction counseling, behavior management strategies, and applied behavior analysis (ABA) techniques
  • Ability to monitor vital signs accurately and understand medical terminology for effective communication within healthcare teams
  • Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to ensure confidentiality of patient information
  • Proficiency in medical documentation, data collection, and maintaining detailed medical records
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for working compassionately with diverse populations including those with disabilities or mental health challenges
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team-oriented environment while maintaining professionalism under pressure

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $15.00 - $17.00 per hour
