Job Summary:
Prosper Workforce Services (PWS), a program of Autism Action Partnership (AAP), helps adult job seekers with autism find competitive, permanent, meaningful employment, while providing local businesses with skilled, reliable employees and the knowledge they need to support them. Our Workforce Consultants provide direct service to both our job seekers and our employment partners to ensure successful job placements and long-term retention. PWS is looking for Workforce Consultants who will be patient and persistent when working with participants. They may need to be repetitive and/or creative when selecting effective strategies to improve workplace success. PWS can provide training on specific workforce processes and common accommodations for adults with autism, but Workforce Consultants MUST come to us with personalities that are compassionate, positive, encouraging, and friendly. Workforce Consultants MUST relate well with people from all walks of life and be willing to work in a professional environment.
Job Duties (not limited to):
· Responsible for supporting adults with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) in their efforts to find and keep employment
· Act as a link between the individuals and the employment setting to develop fulfilling and satisfying work for both parties
· Provide support during onboarding while participants learn job expectations, establish successful work routines, and integrate into the employment setting
· Identify participants’ job-related strengths and challenges to guide skill development and employment goals for the purpose of increasing positive employment matches and success
· Provide job skills training and on-the-job support
· Perform administrative duties, such as scheduling intakes and following up on calls and emails related to the program
· Make timely and accurate entries into PWS database (Salesforce) to reflect status of and document work with participants
· Follow established case management policy and procedures and meet quality assurance standards
· Provide training and consultation to employers, managers, and coworkers of our participants
· Initiate, develop and maintain professional relationships with community and corporate partners
· Participate in team activities and engage in team meetings
· Represent Autism Action Partnership and Prosper Workforce Services (PWS) with integrity
· Regular in-office attendance is required
Skills and/or Qualifications (not limited to):
· Must be comfortable working with people from a variety of backgrounds, including individuals with disabilities
· Must communicate well, verbally and in writing
· Must be proficient in use of technology, including Microsoft Office products, relationship management database, and various applications
· Must possess strong ethical standards and use a high level of discretion and judgment
· Ability to handle substantial caseload while providing satisfactory services and sufficient documentation of activities and communications
· Ability to develop effective strategies and workplace accommodations for people with ASD
· Experience creating, proofreading, and updating resumes and providing interview coaching preferred
· Ability to provide job/social skills training as necessary to people with ASD
· Ability to develop positive working relationships with employers, referral sources, guardians, and others involved in the lives of participants
· Ability to work collaboratively with community and corporate partners that support our mission
· Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Physical Requirements:
· Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time
· Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
· Ability to stand for long periods and move around without discomfort
· Must be able to drive to various employment locations in the Omaha Metro
· Workforce Consultants work in a variety of work environments, some of which may include exposure to outdoor elements, loud noises, and/or work-related odors
Education and/or Experience:
· Bachelor’s degree in psychology, human services, or related field or commensurate work experience required
· Experience with autism and supporting individuals with disabilities in employment settings strongly preferred
· Experience developing new relationships with businesses or partners preferred
Complexity/Diversity of work:
This position involves a wide array of tasks and activities required to support participants and employers. Workforce Consultants will work with a variety of employers in a variety of work environments supporting a variety of unique positions. Workforce Consultants should be able to transition from one task or setting to another easily. Workforce Consultants must show an ability represent AAP and PWS in a manner that instills trust with participants and their families, as well as with employers and potential employers. Workforce Consultants will have regular contact with the AAP team and with external consumers and partners.
Schedule: typically 40 hrs/wk, including some evenings or weekends
Starting Salary: 42,000-45,000/year
Candidates must:
· Possess a valid driver’s license
· Pass background check
· Supply three professional references
