Accounting Assistant 1

Position Summary:

The Accounting Assistant Intern will support the Accounting Department by performing entry-level tasks related to bookkeeping, data entry, accounts receivable/payable, and document management. This internship is designed to provide hands-on experience in accounting processes while contributing to the daily financial operations of the organization.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assist with routine financial transactions including data entry, account coding, and invoice processing
• Help maintain accurate records for accounts payable and accounts receivable
• Support reconciliation of vendor accounts and monthly statements under supervision
• Assist with digital and physical filing of accounting documents
• Help identify opportunities to improve accounting processes
• Provide general administrative and clerical support to the Accounting Team
• Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all work
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications and Requirements:

• Currently pursuing a degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• Basic understanding of accounting principles (GAAP preferred)
• Experience with Microsoft Excel and willingness to learn accounting software (QuickBooks experience a plus)
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Willingness to learn and take direction in a professional environment
• Ability to maintain regular attendance and punctuality
• Must be eligible to work in the U.S. and able to obtain an IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card if required

Work Environment/Physical Requirements: 

• Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards. 
• Sit for extended periods of time. 
• Ability to view large volumes of written materials via computer screen, records, correspondence, and/or documentation for extended periods of time.
• Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. 
• Perform some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling (up to 40 lbs. and above). 
• Maintain independent mobility to move about the school throughout the day. 
• Work in noisy and crowded environments.
