Austin, Niester, Schweihofer & Finnegan, P.C. is seeking an experienced Bookkeeper / Accounting Specialist to join our team. We are a well-established local CPA firm serving a diverse group of small businesses, individuals, and nonprofit organizations throughout the Blue Water Area and beyond.
We are looking for someone who is organized, dependable, detail-oriented, and comfortable working directly with clients. This position is ideal for an experienced bookkeeper who enjoys variety and wants to be part of a professional, friendly work environment.
Responsibilities include:
- Maintaining accounting records for multiple small business clients
- Bank and credit card reconciliations
- Preparing and posting journal entries
- Accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Payroll processing and related payroll tax filings
- Preparing monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial statements
- Sales tax and other business tax filings
- Communicating directly with clients to obtain information and resolve accounting questions
- Identifying and correcting bookkeeping issues
Qualifications:
- Prior bookkeeping or accounting experience required
- Strong understanding of basic accounting principles
- Experience with QuickBooks, Sage and Accounting CS preferred
- Payroll experience preferred
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple clients and deadlines
- Comfortable working independently while also being part of a team
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Experience working in a CPA firm or with multiple business clients is a plus, but not required.
