Role Description This full-time, on-site Athletic Trainer role is based in Austin, TX and supports student-athletes across AISD campuses. The Athletic Trainer will provide injury evaluation, immediate care, and rehabilitation services, while collaborating with coaches, nurses, and families to support safe participation in sports and physical activities. Daily responsibilities include implementing injury prevention programs, developing strength and conditioning plans, maintaining treatment and progress records, and monitoring return-to-play readiness. The role also involves educating students and staff on safe training practices, managing athletic training room operations and equipment, and ensuring compliance with district, state, and professional guidelines. The Athletic Trainer will participate in practices, games, and school events as needed to provide on-site coverage.

Qualifications

  • Candidates should possess strong skills in Injury Prevention and Prevention strategies to support safe athletic participation.
  • Candidates should possess comprehensive Athletic Training skills, including injury assessment, treatment planning, and emergency response.
  • Candidates should possess Strength & Conditioning skills to design and monitor safe, sport-specific training programs.
  • Candidates should possess Rehabilitation skills to guide student-athletes through recovery and return-to-play protocols.
  • Current certification as an Athletic Trainer (ATC) and eligibility for Texas licensure or registration as an Athletic Trainer.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Athletic Training, Kinesiology, Sports Medicine, or a related field.
  • Strong communication and collaboration abilities with students, families, coaches, and school staff.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, and to provide on-site coverage at practices and competitions.
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and creating a safe, supportive environment for all student-athletes.
