Description The Production Planning Supervisor is responsible for providing support for plant operations including training, managing continuous improvement processes and production control processes. This position provides advanced support for SAP production operations and inventory management while leading initiatives that improve accuracy, efficiency, and cost control across the plant. This role ensures proper documentation, data integrity, and alignment of operational workflows with system requirements.

Responsible for ensuring all related SOPs and plant rules pertaining to cGMP, safety, etc. are followed, helping maintain an effective Food Safety and Quality System and support its ongoing improvement, commitment to producing quality, safe and legal products that meet or exceed our customer’s specifications and comply with all applicable legislative and regulatory requirements. This position will collaborate with various internal departments from quality, maintenance, supply chain and operations to execute strategies that focus on the optimization of the site and lean manufacturing/continuous improvement.

Role Specific Responsibilities

    • Identification and implementation of process optimization solutions
    • Understanding of Lean Manufacturing/Continuous Improvement methodologies and ability to teach and model them
    • Collaborates with Site Director, Quality, and Engineering on modification of equipment and processes to reduce cost and improve efficiency and quality
    • Works together with maintenance, engineering, and plant resources to develop and implement continuous improvement projects
    • Monitors and collaborates with team where necessary to modify production processes for existing products to improve consistency, quality, and reduce cost
    • Collaborates on process development - Including procedures for new products
    • Monitors plant operating metrics to identify and implement corrective actions that positively impact cost, quality, and cycle time problem areas
    • Provides technical support and consultation to the Quality Control department. Specifically, regarding recovery plans for off-specification, obsolete, and problem finished goods
    • Develops and provides training to production personnel on matters concerning formulation, materials handling, processing, and quality procedures
    • Takes an active role in hazard recognition and injury prevention by following all safety rules & regulations
    • Follow all environmental rules and regulations to ensure hazardous materials and waste are managed in an environmentally responsible manner
    • This position acts as a backup to the Operations Manager position
    • Ensures accuracy of Batch Documentation and SAP Production Entries
    • Monitor and manage packaging supply inventory
    • Completes Process Order Variance Review and makes required adjustments
    • Manage Inventory review and reallocations
    • Leads monthly production closures and process order clean up
    • Creates process orders to support plant all production
    • Creates process orders to support the packaging plan
    • Creates all product transfer orders for operations and utility operations
    • Oversee timely and accurate operational SAP transactions such as goods receipts and goods issues as needed to correct process order variances and other problems elsewhere in the process.
    • Responsible for the management of the day-to-day raw material and packaging
    • Supports site in Physical Inventory, Cycle Counts, and SLOB
      • Involved with others (Operations Manager, Controller, QC Manager and Engineering) to insure BOM accuracy and POV.
      • Coordinates SAP returns processing from customers against authorized return sales orders and coordinates with Customer Service.
      • Manages and directs the shipping operator’s day to day workflow
      • Support and partner with improving warehouse operations to maximize processes and efficiencies
    • Performs additional duties as assigned/required

  • Reports all Health, Safety and Environmental accidents, incidents and near misses promptly

Education And Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required

Experience

  • Minimum of five years’ experience in Production/Operations, Plant Maintenance or Engineering required
