The Manager of Global Logistics assumes responsibility for transportation, warehousing, trade compliance, continuous improvement within logistics and strategical development throughout the global organization. This role supports and enhances an overarching culture of corporate safety and the essential application of safety within logistics operations.
Role Specific Responsibilities:
Understands and meets the needs of the business units as key customers and builds the necessary strategy to support these business units
Leads the Global logistics Team and encourages their development within Aurorium
Drives improvements which in turn provide superior service to our customers
Develops a vigorous strategy and logistics business model, through benchmarking best in class organizations
Manages third parties to robust criteria to ensure cost-effective and customer centric delivery
Establishes a vision for the safe and cost-effective transportation of bulk and packaged chemicals
Provides management, oversite, and direction to a network of vendors, regional logistics experts and a direct report
Functions as the corporate subject matter expert for global logistics matters
Implements programs to ensure attainment of business plans for service and cost
Maintains authority over freight and vendor budgets
Drives cost reduction through control of procurement, automation, and process improvement projects
Assumes responsibility for the following Key Metrics Globally:
Distribution costs ($ and $ as % of Revenue)
Logistic related On Time To Request (%) and Lates ($)
3PL Management costs ($)
Logistics complaint rate (%)
Total 3P Warehouse costs ($)
Additional duties as assigned
Compliance:
Establishes processes to maintain and enhance compliance with all national and global regulatory schemes applying to transportation and the safe and legal movement of hazardous material
Oversees and enhances global trade compliance practices to assure efficient customs management and full compliance with regulations for trading activities and the import and export of products
Complies with company Health, Safety and Environmental policies, procedures and arrangements
Reports on all Health, Safety and Environmental accidents, incidents and near misses promptly
Acts in a safe and responsible manner at all times
Problem Solving and Innovation:
Active participation in continuous improvement activities
Participates in problem-solving
Takes responsibility and ownership for own learning and development in the spirit of continuous improvement of both self and the business
Assists in the training, mentoring, and assessment of other team members
Exercises autonomy and judgement subject to overall direction or guidance
Education and Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in logistics, supply chain management, business or related discipline required
Experience:
Minimum of 5 years of experience within logistics management
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail with the ability to adapt quickly to changing business needs and priorities
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to flex own style as needed to influence and drive results
Ability to work within a multi-functional, global organizational structure and exhibits robust interpersonal skills
Self-motivated and ability to work within a fast-paced environment
Critical thinking skills and analytical abilities which allow assessments of situations and opportunities
Knowledge of standard budgeting and cost control techniques and have the ability to learn software packages quickly as required. Candidates with related SAP experience are preferred
Working knowledge if IATA, IMDG, 49CFR (parts 100-177 and 178-199) and INCO 2020
Working knowledge of global customs practices, administration of free trade agreements, duty management tactics and HTS classifications, trade regulations
Ability to oversee large programs like logistics intermigration of acquired companies and global software revisions
Proven experience with successful contract negotiations
Applicable problem-solving knowledge with a working background in Six Sigma
Experience offering global level support, coordination and influence, familiarity with operating in a global environment
Excellent proficiency within Microsoft products (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
