This position supports a refined products trading team within the oil markets, covering analytical, operational, and junior trading responsibilities in a dynamic and fast-moving environment. The successful candidate will play a key role in daily P&L processes, market exposure management, and trade execution support, while helping ensure smooth coordination between front, middle, and back-office teams.
Core Responsibilities
- Act as an integral part of the refined products trading desk, assisting in day-to-day trading activity, exposure tracking, and risk oversight.
- Contribute to junior-level trading functions such as executing and reconciling futures transactions, decomposing book exposures into strategy buckets, and producing timely P&L reports.
- Monitor product expirations across the portfolio and ensure all required actions—rolls, offsets, or settlements—are executed before expiry deadlines.
- Support onboarding and enablement of new brokers and instruments by liaising with credit, risk, clearing, and external counterparties.
- Maintain awareness of both physical and financial positions; calculate daily profit and loss and report exposure movements to traders and management.
- Assist with hedging activity for physical barrels, ensuring accurate and up-to-date pricing for deliveries and purchases.
- Develop analytical tools and ad-hoc models in Excel or similar platforms to support senior traders and decision-making.
- Interface with technology and middle-office teams to ensure accurate system feeds, reconciliations, and reporting of inventory quality and quantity.
- Participate in internal meetings and cross-desk discussions, providing analytical support and follow-up on assigned actions.
Skills & Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related discipline.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; comfortable interacting with traders, operations, and risk management.
- Strong numerical and analytical capabilities with sound judgment and attention to detail.
- Ability to perform under pressure in a fast-paced trading floor setting, balancing independence with collaboration.
- Highly organized, process-oriented, and capable of bridging information between systems, traders, and management reports.
- Advanced Excel proficiency required; working knowledge of VBA or macros is advantageous.
- Team player with a proactive mindset and a genuine interest in oil markets and trading operations.
