Senior Java Developer

Aureon Consulting is partnering with one of our longstanding clients to identify an experienced Senior Java Developer for a strategic modernization initiative within a highly stable and growing financial services organization.

This opportunity offers the chance to play a key role in the transformation of a business-critical platform that has supported operations for decades. The development team is replacing legacy mainframe technology with a modern Java-based architecture and is seeking a hands-on developer who enjoys solving complex technical challenges while contributing to long-term platform evolution.

The team supports products and services across insurance and financial markets while working closely with business leaders, technical architects, and fellow developers to deliver scalable solutions that will support future growth.

What You'll Be Doing

• Design, build, and enhance enterprise applications that support critical business operations
• Participate in architecture discussions and technical design decisions for modernization efforts
• Develop and maintain Java-based applications, APIs, and supporting services
• Collaborate with developers, architects, analysts, and business stakeholders to deliver high-quality solutions
• Help identify technical challenges, evaluate options, and recommend scalable approaches
• Lead implementation efforts for complex enhancements and modernization projects
• Contribute to application performance improvements, system reliability, and engineering best practices
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to less experienced developers
• Support the migration of legacy functionality into a modern application ecosystem
• Work closely with business partners to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions

What We're Looking For

• Approximately 8 years of software development experience for senior-level candidates
• Strong object-oriented development experience using Java and Spring technologies
• Effective communication skills and the ability to work closely with technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Experience leading technical initiatives or serving as a senior contributor on complex projects
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
• Ability to balance multiple priorities and deliver solutions in a fast-paced environment
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, MIS, or a related field preferred
