Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Courtroom Clerk / Courtroom Coordinator to support courtroom operations, case processing, court technology, and communication with attorneys, litigants, court staff, and other agencies.
The ideal candidate will have strong administrative, organizational, communication, and critical-thinking skills, preferably with experience in a courtroom or legal environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and manage the courtroom for hearings and coordinate courtroom activities with the Courtroom Clerk.
- Maintain order and support the integrity of the court process during proceedings.
- Set up, operate, and troubleshoot e-courtroom technology, including digital recording, electronic presentations, fingerprint equipment, and related systems.
- Assist victims, the State, attorneys, litigants, and other courtroom participants during proceedings.
- Use iCIS and printed court calendars to check case parties, gather required information, and communicate cases to the Judicial Officer.
- Prepare court files, distribute calendars, and review files for completeness and court readiness.
- Review motions for accuracy and compliance with applicable procedures and follow up on missing information.
- Assist with case processing, hearing scheduling, and providing hearing dates.
- Enter hearing outcomes and results into iCIS in real time and update records or initiate court-ordered actions.
- Support the Judicial Officer and Judicial Assistant with calendars and other assignments.
- Collaborate with court divisions and staff during high-priority or emergency situations.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- 3 years of progressively responsible administrative experience, preferably in a court, legal, or similar environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities.
- Ability to prioritize and reprioritize tasks based on urgency and importance.
- Strong critical-thinking and decision-making skills.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective professional relationships.
- Knowledge of legal research methods, court procedures, policies, and applicable laws and regulations.
Technical Skills
Experience with:
- Microsoft Outlook, Word & Excel
- iCIS
- OnBase
- eFile
- Multi-line telephone systems
- E-courtroom equipment
- Copy and fax equipment
Preferred Qualifications
- Bilingual in Spanish and English.
- Previous courtroom experience.
- Experience maintaining courtroom order and supporting court proceedings.
- Experience working with legal/court systems and procedures.
Additional Requirements
- Background check and fingerprinting required.
- Selected candidates will work at a courthouse and must pass courthouse security screening daily.
- Position may require extended periods of sitting, standing, walking, typing, reaching, and handling objects.
- Occasional lifting of items up to 20 lbs. may be required.
