Position: 2nd Shift Metal Finisher
Location: Hagerstown, MD
Contract to Hire: Pay Rate: $21 hourly
Shift: Second shift, full-time
Hours: 3:30 PM – 12:00 AM
Work Location: In-Person
Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Metal Finisher to join our manufacturing team. In this role, you will be responsible for refining, polishing, and finishing metal components to meet precise specifications and quality standards. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical aptitude, experience with various fabrication and finishing techniques, and familiarity with manufacturing equipment and tools. This position offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to high-quality production processes within a dynamic manufacturing environment. The Metal Finisher role is part of the finishing operations team, ensuring metal parts meet high-quality standards before final assembly or shipment.
Responsibilities:
- Operate grinders to remove scratches, dents, and imperfections from metal pieces.
- Polish and buff ground areas to produce a smooth, defect-free surface.
- Perform weld clean-up and prepare parts for painting.
- Operate deburring, grinding, blending, buffing, tumbling, and chamfering machines.
- Inspect product surfaces for defects and repair as needed.
- Maintain a clean, organized workspace and perform basic preventative maintenance (e.g., lubrication).
- Stand, lift, bend, and twist for 8 hours daily.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Willingness to pass a background check and drug screen.
- Experience with grinding machines, cutting machines, and equipment safety checks.
- Ability to operate buffing, grinding, and deburring tools.
- Experience in machine operator roles is preferred.
Work Environment:
- In-person, on the production floor.
- Physical demands include standing, lifting, and operating machinery for extended periods.
- Safety-conscious environment with adherence to equipment safety protocols.
