Position Overview
- Perform Testing, Adjusting, and Balancing (TAB) of HVAC air and hydronic systems to ensure alignment with engineering design specifications and performance standards
- Conduct precise measurements of airflow, water flow, temperature, and pressure using specialized TAB instrumentation
- Adjust dampers, valves, and control systems to achieve optimal system balance, efficiency, and performance
- Diagnose system performance issues and identify deficiencies impacting operation, energy efficiency, or occupant comfort
- Interpret mechanical drawings, blueprints, and specifications to validate system installation and operation
- Prepare detailed TAB reports and documentation to support project compliance and closeout requirements
- Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and field teams to resolve system issues and support project execution
- Support commissioning activities, including system validation and final performance verification
- Work in active construction and retrofit environments, contributing to successful project delivery and system reliability
Qualifications:
Required Technical Skills
- Proven experience performing Testing, Adjusting, and Balancing (TAB) of HVAC systems
- Strong knowledge of air distribution and hydronic systems
- Ability to measure and verify airflow, water flow, pressure, and temperature
- Proficiency using TAB instruments such as airflow hoods, manometers, and anemometers
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, blueprints, and system schematics
- Experience adjusting dampers, valves, and control systems for proper system balance
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic capabilities for HVAC system performance issues
- Ability to prepare detailed TAB reports and documentation with high accuracy
- Knowledge of HVAC system operations, controls, and industry standards
- Ability to work independently in field-based environments
Preferred Experience / Qualifications
- TAB Certification through NEBB or AABC
- Experience supporting commercial, industrial, or large-scale construction projects
- Familiarity with commissioning processes and final system verification
- OSHA safety training or certifications
- Experience working in mechanical rooms, rooftops, and active construction environments
- Willingness and ability to travel to project sites as required
