What are the responsibilities and job description for the Materials Coordinator position at Audubon Companies?
Audubon is currently seeking a Materials Coordinator to join our team. The Materials Coordinator will be responsible for all material control at the construction jobsite.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Receives, verifies and visually inspects equipment and materials at the construction jobsite.
- Ensures that inventory transactions are entered efficiently and accurately into the material controls system and is responsible for the integrity of the inventory.
- Notifies Purchasing of issues and may contact vendor to report issues needing immediate attention and resolution.
- Uses dolly, flatbed, forklift or other material handling equipment to transport material from receiving to warehouse or yard area. Ensures proper handling and storage of items.
- Assists with loading and unloading trucks using safe work habits.
- Stocks equipment and material according to established safety, operating and inventory control procedures.
- Maintains an organized and easily accessible inventory area.
- Ensures that location is clearly labeled if appropriate and notifies Supervisor when space is not adequate. Ensures that security of the warehouse and other inventory locations is maintained.
- Works with the Construction Manager, Construction Coordinators and Scheduling to establish the daily construction “Needs List”.
- Ensures that priority items are available.
- Ensures that daily Needs List and priority items are available per schedule.
- Places purchase orders for short material typically from blanket orders or from pre-approved sources.
- Works with Expediting / Cost Controls to produce back-charges to vendors for OS&D’s (over, short or damaged) equipment and materials.
- Works closely with Expediting / QA/QC to resolve damage claims.
- Works with the Procurement Manager to establish the equipment and material matrix for the project.
- ACTIVITIES PERFORMED ON AN INTERMITTENT OR OCCASIONAL BASIS
- Performs other duties as assigned. May work on special projects.
- May provide back up for other employees.
EXPERIENCE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma or GED. Basic math skills.
- Working knowledge of construction being completed on the project is preferred.
- Knowledge of automated material control systems preferred.
- Procurement or materials background.
- Five or more years in inventory control, receiving, materials, warehousing or related areas.
- Experience in a construction environment and/or with similar materials highly desirable.
- Ability to safely operate a Forklift and other Material Handling equipment as required.
- Ability to complete required documentation and data entry in an accurate and timely manner.
- Ability to read design drawings in order to work with construction management team to develop needs list and take offs.
- Basic planning skills.
- Good verbal, written and interpersonal skills in order to effectively communicate with internal and external contacts.
- Ability to model safe work practices and actively support Audubon’s HSE program.
- Ability to quickly become proficient in the care and use of all site specific, facility required Personal Protection Equipment.
