What are the responsibilities and job description for the Emergency 911 Dispatcher position at Audrain County E-911 Joint Communications?

Must be able to pass a thorough background check, computer test, drug screening, hearing test. Must possess a valid driver's license. While in training, employee may be on a rotating shift in order to become fully trained. This means employee may have to work day shift for part of their training and then return to night shift.

Salary: $18.00 /hour $1.00 shift differential for 7pm shift. ($1.00 hr raise after training completed)
Shifts are 12 hours. 7a-7p and 7p-7a but must be able to train on any shift.

- Answers and screens telephone calls from the public and emergency services personnel
- Assists the public with problems by providing general information or directing them to the appropriate agency
- Dispatches appropriate field units by radio or telephone
- Provides pre-arrival instructions to callers in distress, including emergency medical, when appropriate
- Determines priority of all calls for services prior to dispatch
- Maintains accurate written and computerized records of calls for service and incident dispositions
- Monitors radio transmission from other agencies
- Receives and responds to radio transmissions from field units
- Transmits messages, reviews files and retrieves information for field units.
- Operates specialized radio and telephone equipment, office machines and other equipment related to dispatching functions
- Performs a variety of clerical work in maintaining records of communications
- Assists in general office support and security of office property.
