What are the responsibilities and job description for the Scada Engineer position at Attractivate Consulting Solutions?
SCADA Modeling Specialist
Are you passionate about power systems, operational data, and building the digital backbone of critical infrastructure? We're looking for a SCADA Modeling Specialist to join our utility team and take ownership of the network models, data configurations, and system representations that drive real-time grid operations.
About the Role
As a SCADA Modeling Specialist, you will be responsible for building, maintaining, and validating the SCADA system models that accurately represent our electric, gas, or water distribution and transmission network. You'll work closely with engineering, GIS, operations, and IT/OT teams to ensure our control system data reflects real-world conditions — enabling reliable monitoring, control, and automation across our infrastructure.
What You'll Do
- Build and maintain accurate SCADA network models, one-line diagrams, and device configurations that reflect the current state of the physical utility network
- Process and manage model change requests resulting from new construction, equipment replacements, and system reconfigurations
- Coordinate with GIS, asset management, and field engineering teams to validate and reconcile model data against as-built records
- Configure and maintain analog and digital points, telemetry mappings, alarming, and display graphics within the SCADA/EMS/DMS/ADMS environment
- Support model-to-field verification activities and participate in the commissioning of new SCADA points and devices
- Develop and enforce data governance standards, naming conventions, and model quality assurance processes
- Integrate SCADA models with adjacent systems, including GIS, OMS, DMS, and PI Historian, to support cross-platform data accuracy
- Identify and resolve model discrepancies that impact operational visibility, state estimation, or advanced application performance
- Maintain documentation of modeling standards, change logs, and configuration records
- Support training of operations and engineering staff on model-related tools and workflows
What You'll Bring
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, Computer Science, or a related technical field
- 3 years of experience in SCADA modeling, EMS/DMS data management, or utility network modeling
- Strong understanding of electric transmission or distribution system topology, equipment types, and operational concepts
- Experience with one or more SCADA/EMS/DMS platforms (e.g., GE e-terra, ABB Ability Network Manager, OSIsoft PI, Siemens ADMS, Schneider Electric EcoStruxure, or similar)
- Familiarity with CIM (IEC 61968/61970) standards for utility network modeling
- Working knowledge of GIS platforms and their role in network data management (Esri ArcGIS or similar)
- Detail-oriented with strong data quality and documentation practices
- Ability to collaborate effectively across engineering, operations, and IT/OT teams
Nice to Have
- Experience with NERC CIP compliance and OT data security requirements
- Familiarity with DNP3, Modbus, or IEC 61850 telemetry and point configuration
- Proficiency in SQL, Python, or scripting tools for data validation and automation
- Knowledge of advanced applications such as DSSE, FLISR, or VVO, and their model dependencies
- Experience supporting model migrations or platform upgrades
Why You'll Love It Here
- Play a critical role in the reliability and intelligence of our grid operations
- Work in a collaborative IT/OT environment with exposure to cutting-edge smart grid technologies
- Competitive compensation, benefits, and ongoing professional development
- Make a real impact on the communities we serve every day
