Estimated Appointment End Date (Continuous if Blank) Full/Part-Time Full time Job Type Regular Compensation Job Description Title: Assistant Attorney General Unit: Complex Financial Crimes and Consumer Advocacy Salary Range: Commensurate with experience and qualifications FLSA Status: Exempt Location: Oklahoma City, OK Schedule: Full-time Unit Summary: The Office of the Attorney General has tasked this Unit with the criminal enforcement of financial crimes, focusing on fraudulent trade practices, large scale fraudulent schemes that cross jurisdictional boundaries or victimize large populations, and fraud perpetrated against vulnerable populations, such as seniors. This Unit is comprised of criminal prosecutors and law enforcement agents that work hand in hand to combat these issues. This Unit is additionally tasked with community outreach and education to bring awareness to fraudulent schemes and assist the community through a complaint system for those who are injured by unfair or deceptive trade practices. Essential Functions: Guide CPU criminal investigations including drafting and issuing subpoenas and investigative demands and reviewing information produced in response. Conduct legal research and draft legal memorandums to support case preparation and strategy for litigation. Prepare and file prosecutorial actions and represent the office in court hearings, including but not limited to preliminary hearings; pre-trial conferences; sentencings; motion hearings; and bench and jury trials. Ensure witnesses and evidence are properly prepared for court. Effectively communicate and collaboratively work with agents, consumer representatives, and other OAG staff. Participate in community outreach and public education events to alert consumers as to trends in consumer fraud and common scams. Other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications: Must be, or be eligible to become, licensed attorneys in good standing with the Oklahoma State Bar. Effective research, writing, and advocacy skills are required. Preference will be given to candidates with the following: Criminal jury trial experience Prior experience guiding criminal investigations and working with law enforcement Prior prosecutorial experience Working knowledge of financial crimes Desire to zealously advocate for victims and the State of Oklahoma Good judgment Detail-oriented Excellent verbal and written communication skills Must be willing to travel throughout the state for court appearances and training opportunities All applicants must agree in writing to complete, and satisfactorily pass, a background investigation.
