Job Summary: MW 11am-3p and TR 11am-5p
The Community Participation Support Direct Support Professional (DSP) provides individualized support to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities to help them engage in meaningful community activities. The DSP encourages independence, inclusion, and personal growth by facilitating access to community resources, volunteer opportunities, and recreational or educational programs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support individuals in accessing and participating in community-based activities that align with their interests and goals.
- Encourage and promote independence and self-advocacy in all activities.
- Assist with developing and implementing individualized service plans (ISPs).
- Provide transportation to and from community activities using your personal vehicles .
- Promote integration and relationship-building with community members and organizations.
- Monitor and document progress, activities, and any incidents per agency and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure health and safety of individuals during all community outings.
- Communicate effectively with families, team members, and other service providers.
- Attend required trainings, team meetings, and professional development sessions.
Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or GED required. Additional training or education in human services preferred.
- Experience: 1 year of experience working with individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities preferred.
- Certifications: Valid driver's license and a clean driving record. Must pass all background checks and obtain required clearances.
- Skills: Compassionate, patient, reliable, good communication and interpersonal skills, able to work independently and as part of a team.
Work Environment:
- Community-based role with frequent travel and time spent in public settings.
- Requires physical ability to assist individuals with mobility needs if necessary.
- May involve exposure to various weather conditions depending on activities.
