About the Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented Tableau QA Engineer to join the MARS team. This role focuses on ensuring the quality, accuracy, and reliability of Tableau dashboards through a combination of manual testing, SQL-based data validation, and test automation. The ideal candidate is technically strong, hands-on, and passionate about data quality and analytics testing. You will work closely with Tableau Developers and Data Engineers to validate dashboard functionality, performance, and underlying data integrity.
Responsibilities
- Develop, execute, and maintain comprehensive test cases and scripts for functional, regression, and data validation testing of Tableau dashboards.
- Use intermediate-level SQL to validate data accuracy, transformations, joins, aggregations, and KPI calculations between source systems and Tableau outputs.
- Perform end-to-end dashboard testing, including filters, parameters, calculations, drill down behavior, and performance validation.
- Design and implement automated testing workflows for Tableau dashboards using tools such as Wiisdom, Selenium, or similar automation frameworks.
- Document test strategies, test plans, defects, and release progress using JIRA, Confluence, Excel, and other reporting tools.
- Collaborate with Tableau Engineers and Data Engineers to clarify requirements, identify data issues, and ensure high-quality dashboard releases.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, or a related field
- 5 years of experience in dashboard or BI testing (Tableau strongly preferred)
- Intermediate SQL skills (ability to write joins, aggregations, subqueries, data validation queries, and troubleshoot data discrepancies) — required
- Hands-on experience with manual and automated testing methodologies
- Experience with JIRA, Confluence, and MS Excel for test management and documentation
- Solid understanding of database technologies (e.g., Redshift, Oracle, or similar)
- Strong analytical thinking and attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative team environment.
- This is a PURELY TECHNICAL, HANDS-ON ROLE — not a coordination or oversight only position
- Candidate must be comfortable working directly with SQL queries, dashboards, and testing tools daily
- Local candidates only
- Must be able to work on-site in Basking Ridge, NJ 2–3 days per week
