What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Account Management position at ATOMIC?
Position Objective
Provide leadership and strategic direction for the Custom Fabrication (CF) Account Management team. The team works to develop and deepen client relationships, realize sustainable growth for ATOMIC, and ensure profit margins are met with our brand championed.
The Director plays a key role in the long-term growth of ATOMIC by integrating strong business practices and ATOMIC’s human-focused culture and brand.
Core Responsibilities
1. Role model ATOMIC values of respect, curiosity, collaboration, resourcefulness, flexibility and caring candor.
2. Manage flow into the project pipeline, working with the VP and CBDO to evaluate potential new projects or client relationships while vetting capacity with operations towards achievable project timelines.
3. Support the project opportunity process, including leading the capacity assessment for the Account Management team. Assist in assessing opportunities to ensure appropriate resources are allocated for both client expectations and profitability.
4. Ensure operational efficiency within the Account Management team, partnering with project management, production design, product development, and operations departments through the development and implementation of strong process and communications.
5. Work with the VP to meet financial and other agreed-upon targets, efficiently managing resources and monitoring/reporting on staff and budget projections.
6. Communicate financial goals and progress to the Account Management team.
7. Develop methods of consistent client feedback and drive the client satisfaction process, ensuring that the client’s voice is heard throughout the company.
8. Cultivate a collaborative team environment with strong partnerships throughout the organization, bridging the work of the Account Management team with our business development efforts.
9. Provide mentorship to the CF account management team, aiding in their professional growth and building our talent pipeline.
10. Lead the annual budgeting process for Account Management by developing a capital expense plan that ensures ongoing efficiency, effectiveness, and up-to-date capability.
11. Drive the ATOMIC culture with support and guidance of HR and Senior Level Management.
12. Contribute to the ongoing development of a safety culture.
Organizational Relationships
The Director of Account Management reports to the VP of Account Management & Technical Design and serves on the Operational Leadership Team (OLT). The position works closely with the Chief Business Development Officer, Operations, and Technical Design.
Desired Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Project budget development/management/analysis skills to attain strong profit margins.
- Familiarity with a high-volume scenic fabrication shop’s operation and transportation needs for non-permanent installation of projects on a 3–6-week schedule from “green light” all the way through load-out.
- Experience of set construction and rigging, including knowledge of safety factors inherent in live event projects.
- Ability to read drawings and ground plans.

Credentials and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree and 12 years of applicable experience OR 15 years of applicable experience to include 8 years of progressive sales leadership experience including team management.
- Experience with account or project management for a scenic shop, entertainment company, theme park group, or theatrical production company.
- Maintain a valid passport.

- Typical office environment. At times, manufacturing/warehouse environment or event venues.
- Up to 25% travel required.
