About the Opportunity
Our client, a prominent and growing alternative investment platform, is seeking a Senior Tax Manager in Greenwich, CT. This critical finance leadership role offers the opportunity to oversee partnership and fund tax matters across a diverse suite of investment vehicles and management entities. The position is structured as a succession track to the Head of Tax, providing significant long-term growth, direct partnership with senior executives, and the chance to modernize and build scalable tax processes. Job Responsibilities
- Oversee all partnership tax matters across investment vehicles, management companies, and related entities
- Ensure timely and accurate preparation and review of partnership tax returns (including Forms 1065, K‑1s, and relevant state and local filings)
- Manage complex tax issues, including allocations, waterfalls, carried interest, and investor reporting
- Run the firm’s end-to-end tax compliance process, ensuring adherence to federal, state, and local tax regulations
- Oversee tax provisions and coordinate with finance on tax-related financial reporting matters
- Monitor, interpret, and implement changes in tax law impacting partnerships and alternative investment structures
- Manage relationships with external tax advisors, accounting firms, and service providers; review and challenge external work product for accuracy and efficacy
- Directly manage and mentor two tax professionals, building scalable processes and developing internal capabilities
- Work closely with the CFO on tax strategy, planning initiatives, and firmwide financial matters
- Collaborate with legal, operations, and investment teams on structuring, transactions, acquisitions, restructurings, and new product launches
- Provide tax input on investor matters and support cross-functional projects
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required
- CPA and/or MS in Taxation strongly preferred
- 10–15 years of progressive experience in partnership and fund tax within an asset manager, private equity, hedge fund, alternative investment firm, or top-tier public accounting firm (Big 4 preferred)
- Demonstrated experience managing teams and coordinating with external advisors/vendors
- Deep technical proficiency in partnership taxation, fund structures, investor allocations, and state/local tax considerations for investment partnerships
- Proven ability to manage tax compliance across multiple complex entities
- Track record of successfully balancing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment; strong time management and planning skills
- Advanced technology skills, including familiarity with Alteryx, Tableau, Power Query, and Power BI (a plus)
- Self-starter with strong attention to detail; operates with integrity, drive, and excellence
- Strong communication skills and ability to interact effectively with senior executives
- Experience mentoring junior staff and developing internal tax capabilities
This position is based in Greenwich, CT and offers a hybrid work schedule.
The annual base salary range is up to $500,000. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things. Details about eligibility for bonus compensation (if applicable) will be finalized at the time of offer.
