What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sr. Building Automation Integrator position at Atlas OT?
Lead complex BAS projects integrating HVAC, lighting, metering, and third‑party systems across multiple platforms (Niagara, Distech, Honeywell, Siemens, etc.)
Develop, maintain, and enforce internal programming, graphics, and commissioning standards for building automation systems
Architect and validate secure BAS/OT network designs, including segmentation, firewalls, and alignment with IEC 62443 and modern cybersecurity practices
Oversee technical quality by reviewing engineering packages, control drawings, sequences, and programming from Associate through Lead Engineers
Guide teams in implementing optimized control strategies, energy‑efficient sequences, and high‑performance building operation
Collaborate with Sales and Project Management to estimate project labor, materials, and integration complexity
Approve technical deliverables including control submittals, points lists, sequences of operation, graphics packages, and final programming
Lead efforts in system tuning, alarm reduction, analytics deployment, and continuous commissioning initiatives
Uphold and enhance quality assurance processes to ensure compliance with industry standards, owner requirements, and Atlas OT’s internal best practices
Requirements
- Expert‑level proficiency in BAS programming environments, including Niagara Framework, Distech EC‑Net, Honeywell, Siemens, Johnson Controls, Inductive Automation Ignition and other major OEM platforms
- Experience designing, reviewing, and troubleshooting control panels, including power distribution, terminal layouts, protection devices, and UL 508A/UL 916 compliance
- Skilled in field instrumentation, cable/conduit sizing, routing, labeling, and installation standards, with hands‑on experience performing point‑to‑point testing, loop checks, and commissioning of sensors, actuators, and control wiring
- Deep understanding of control logic development, including ASHRAE Guideline 36, advanced HVAC sequences, and enterprise‑level building automation strategies
- Proven ability to design and implement complex, multi‑vendor BAS architectures across campuses, high‑performance buildings, and mission‑critical facilities
- Strong working knowledge of UL 916, NEC, ASHRAE, ISA, and relevant IEC standards governing building automation, networking, and system safety
- Skilled in integrating BAS with enterprise systems, including metering platforms, energy dashboards, analytics engines, and cloud technologies (BACnet/SC, MQTT, REST APIs)
- Extensive experience designing and securing BAS/OT networks in alignment with IEC 62443 and modern cybersecurity best practices
- Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to produce clear, accurate, and field‑ready technical documentation, including points lists, sequences, and submittals
- Strong competency in quality control, commissioning workflows, and cross‑disciplinary collaboration with mechanical, electrical, and IT teams
- (Preferred) Bachelor’s degree in Engineering; advanced
certifications preferred (ISA CAP, PE License, Niagara N4, LEED)
- Minimum of 12,000 project hours (8 years) delivering BAS solutions, including system architecture, programming, graphics, and multi‑site deployment
- Prior experience developing and reviewing sequences of operation, control submittals, mechanical drawings, and integration package
- Demonstrated ability to mentor junior engineers and technicians, contributing to a culture of continuous learning and technical excellence
- Must hold a valid driver’s license and be willing to travel to job sites, commissioning activities, and client facilities
