What are the responsibilities and job description for the Front Desk Receptionist position at Atlas Neurosurgery & Spine?
Job Summary:
Responsible for overseeing the front desk including greeting patients, answering phones, administrative tasks, and scheduling patients.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintains a professional demeanor at all times and adheres to the office policies and procedures.
- Greets patients and checks them in for their appointments.
- Schedules patient appointments over the phone or in person.
- Answers incoming phone calls in a polite and professional manner.
- Makes appointment reminder calls to patients the day before their appointment. Confirms that the insurance policy in EHR is accurate. Informs patient of copays due and balances owed.
- At appointment arrivals, patient demographics are checked (address, phone number), verified insurance card is scanned, and updates it when necessary. Copays/balances are collected.
- Keeps patient appointments on schedule by communication.
- Ensures availability of treatment information by uploading and retrieving patient records.
- Maintains the reception area and lobby to ensure it is clean and tidy.
- Maintains patient accounts by obtaining, recording, and updating personal and financial information.
- Monitors and manages incoming faxes, messages, correspondence from patients.
- Maintains office supplies inventory and equipment by checking stock to determine inventory level, anticipating needed supplies and providing a list to the practice manager to order.
- Protects patients’ rights by maintaining confidentiality of medical, personal, and financial information.
- Other administrative duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Ability to multitask and manage time effectively
- Excellent customer service skills
- Organizational skills
- Proficient with Google Docs and EMR proficient (Practice Fusion).
- Attention to detail
- Ability to effectively communicate
- Previous medical office administrative experience
- Previous Medical Assisting experienced preferred, but not required
Working Conditions/Physical Demands:
Frequent standing/bending/kneeling for extended periods of time.
Must be able to lift 25 pounds.
Pay: $20.00 - $24.00 per hour
