We’re currently seeking a 2nd Shift Bender I to join our growing team of manufacturing professionals in Richmond, Illinois. The selected candidate will be bending and shaping rail to contribute to final turnout assembly.
This role will support our 2nd shift, which works a 3:00pm to 1:30am schedule. Training will be conducted during 1st shift (7:00am – 3:30pm) and then transition to 2nd shift.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Wears and maintains personal protective equipment (PPE), including hard hat, steel toe boots with metatarsal guard, safety goggles, gloves
- Conducts machine check prior to starting the day’s work, checking for oil leaks, sensor alignment, safety mat placement
- Stages material from rail cart to bending working area
- Operates overhead crane and jib crane to manipulate and move work material
- Ensures work and/or sales orders match the label code on the rail material at hand
- Analyzes blueprint and makes markings to check the overall bend of the rail
- Completes check sheets and work orders, noting work progress and quality
- Relocates completed bent or curved rail to next stage in the work order
- Ensures work area is clean, tidy, and safe for the arrival of the next shift
- Apprises the Supervisor of the next shift on progress of work and on any outstanding items to be completed
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED, HiSET, TASC, etc.)
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a manufacturing and/or hardscaping environment
- Ability to read a blueprint
- Ability to read a tape measure (down to a 32nd of an inch)
- Ability to lift and move objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to obtain internal crane and forklift certifications
- Ability to work on-site in Richmond, Illinois
Preferred Qualifications:
- Forklift certification
- OSHA 10 or 30 certification
- Experience handling large metal material
- Previous experience bending metal in an industrial environment
