Industrial Maintenance Electrician
Location: Des Plaines, IL Area
Employment Type: Full-Time, On-Site
Pay: $34–$40 per hour
Position Overview
A stable industrial manufacturer is seeking a hands-on Industrial Electrical Maintenance Technician to maintain production equipment, electrical systems, and facility infrastructure.
This role is ideal for someone with strong electrical aptitude, mechanical ability, and a willingness to troubleshoot a wide range of equipment. Experienced technicians and skilled-trades graduates with solid industrial electrical training are encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues on production equipment and facility systems.
- Perform preventive maintenance and emergency equipment repairs.
- Install and repair electrical circuits, conduit, panels, breakers, switchgear, motors, and related components.
- Run and bend conduit and complete industrial wiring installations.
- Read electrical drawings, schematics, and technical documentation.
- Troubleshoot and maintain rectifiers and industrial power equipment.
- Diagnose machine failures, replace defective components, and test equipment after repairs.
- Perform basic mechanical repairs, fabrication, and welding as needed.
- Maintain and lubricate production machinery.
- Support equipment installations, upgrades, and facility improvement projects.
- Complete work orders and maintenance documentation.
- Follow electrical safety and Arc Flash requirements.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Technical or vocational training in Electrical, Industrial Maintenance, Mechatronics, or a related trade preferred.
- 2 years of industrial electrical or maintenance experience preferred.
- Strong electrical aptitude and mechanical troubleshooting ability.
- Experience running conduit and wiring industrial electrical systems.
- Familiarity with motors, breaker panels, switchgear, and electrical controls.
- Ability to troubleshoot with or without detailed electrical drawings.
- Welding or fabrication experience is a plus.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple maintenance priorities.
