In close partnership with the Senior Vice President, Clinical Service Lines (MD/DO), the administrative SVP is jointly accountable for clinical excellence, financial outcomes, and strategic execution. The SVP of Service Line Operations will drive metric-based performance, cross-functional collaboration, and scalable infrastructure to support transformational growth across institutes such as Heart & Vascular, Cancer, and Neurosciences.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Execution & Integration
- Co-develop and implement multi-year strategic plans for each service line, ensuring alignment with Atlantic Health’s enterprise goals.
- Translate clinical priorities into operational strategies that support access, quality, and growth across hospitals, ambulatory centers, and physician practices.
- Facilitate horizontal integration of services across sites to reduce variation, improve efficiency, and enhance patient experience.
- Provide executive oversight of operations of service lines, including patient flow, staffing, scheduling, and resource management.
- Standardize workflows and operational processes to ensure consistency, scalability, and high reliability across all care settings
- Lead implementation of care pathways and protocols developed by the clinical dyad partner, ensuring operational readiness and sustainability.
- Lead service line budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning in collaboration with finance and clinical leadership.
- Monitor and improve key financial metrics including contribution margin, cost per case, and productivity benchmarks.
- Identify and implement cost containment strategies while maintaining high-quality care delivery.
- Ensure the development and maintenance of performance dashboards to monitor clinical, operational, and financial outcomes
- Mentor and develop operational leaders within service lines; support succession planning and leadership pipeline development.
- Collaborate with HR to design and implement staffing models that support volume growth, access targets, and patient acuity.
- Promote a culture of engagement, accountability, and innovation across all levels of the service line workforce.
- Serve as the executive liaison to departments including nursing, IT, supply chain, marketing, facilities, and finance.
- Ensure coordination of shared services and centralized functions to support service line goals and eliminate operational silos.
- Ensure infrastructure, technology, and support systems are aligned with clinical and strategic priorities.
- Support the clinical dyad partner in engaging employed and affiliated physicians in operational planning, performance improvement, and strategic initiatives.
- Facilitate transparent communication and shared decision-making between operational teams and physician leaders.
- Promote physician alignment through operational support of value-based care models, referral optimization, and access management.
- Identify and implement operational innovations, digital tools, and emerging technologies that enhance service line performance and patient outcomes.
- Support research, education, and innovation initiatives led by the clinical dyad partner by ensuring operational feasibility and resource alignment.
- Ensure service lines meet all regulatory, accreditation, and licensure requirements.
- Lead operational readiness for surveys, audits, and external evaluations, partnering with clinical and quality teams.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
- Master’s degree in healthcare administration, Business, or related field required; clinical background preferred.
- Minimum 10 years of progressive leadership experience in healthcare operations, ideally within horizontally integrated service lines.
- Proven success in leading complex, matrixed organizations and managing multi-site operations.
- Strong financial acumen and experience with service line budgeting and performance management.
- Exceptional communication, collaboration, and change management skills.
