The Opportunity
The Alcohol and Drug Counselor is a core member of Coastal Recovery's interdisciplinary treatment team, providing individual and group counseling services to adults in SUD treatment using evidence-based and trauma-informed approaches. This full-time, on-site role in Myrtle Beach, SC plays a critical part in treatment planning, documentation, client engagement, and collaboration with medical and program leadership to ensure effective and compliant care.
What You'll Do
- Provide individual, group, and family counseling services within PHP and IOP levels of care
- Complete biopsychosocial assessments, ASAM-aligned treatment plans, and ongoing documentation in accordance with organizational and regulatory standards
- Facilitate evidence-based group programming focused on relapse prevention, coping skills, emotional regulation, and recovery support
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team including medical providers, case managers, and peer support staff to coordinate client care
- Participate in supervision, case consultation, and reflective practice to support quality services and professional growth
- Maintain ethical boundaries, confidentiality, and compliance with HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2

Requirements
What You Bring
Required:
- Master's degree in Counseling, Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, or a related field meeting South Carolina licensure requirements
- Active South Carolina licensure or associate licensure as an LPC or LMFT, in good standing
- Active Alcohol and Drug Counselor (ADC) credential or documented eligibility to obtain
- Demonstrated competencies in group facilitation, documentation, and treatment planning
- Knowledge of ASAM criteria, trauma-informed care, motivational interviewing, and relapse prevention strategies
- Ability to maintain compliance with HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2, and South Carolina behavioral health regulations
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively within an interdisciplinary treatment team
Preferred:
- Experience providing counseling in SUD or co-occurring treatment settings
- Working knowledge of utilization review expectations and documentation standards
Benefits
Compensation and Benefits
$50,000 to $65,000 annually, commensurate with experience and licensure level. Associate-licensed candidates can expect placement toward the lower end of the range, with fully licensed candidates qualifying for the upper range.
