Senior Accountant

Systems: NetSuite required

Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to support a multi-phase accounting project. The ideal candidate is a strong, well-rounded accounting professional with NetSuite expertise and the ability to quickly take ownership of complex tasks. While specific self-funded benefits experience is a plus, it is not required for a strong accountant who can learn quickly.

Key Responsibilities

1. Self-Funded Benefit Accounting (Primary Phase)

• Manage accounting processes related to self-funded employee benefit programs.
• Analyze claims activity, funding, and cost allocations.
• Reconcile benefit-related accounts and ensure accuracy of reporting.
• Partner with the Controller to interpret data and refine processes.
• Prior experience in self-funded benefits is preferred, but strong accounting fundamentals are the priority.

2. Purchase Order & Accounts Payable Support

• Oversee purchase order (PO) maintenance, ensuring accuracy, proper approvals, and timely updates.
• Support AP accounting, including invoice review, coding, and resolving discrepancies.
• Assist in improving PO/AP workflows and system usage within NetSuite.
• Ideal for someone with hands-on AP and PO experience.

3. Month-End Close & General Ledger Work

• Assist with monthly close activities, including journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations.
• Perform detailed general ledger (GL) work to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Identify opportunities to streamline close processes and enhance reporting.

Qualifications

• NetSuite experience is required (no exceptions).
• 5–7 years of progressive accounting experience.
• Strong understanding of GAAP and general accounting principles.
• Experience with AP and PO workflows strongly preferred.
• Ability to interpret financial data, problem solve, and work independently.
• Excellent attention to detail and communication skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
