SALARY: $33,000 - $36,000
SUMMARY OF POSITION
Under direction, the Administrative Office Support I serves as a primary point of contact for the Housing Authority. The Administrative Office Support I serves as the primary point of contact for the Authority, providing front-desk reception, customer service, and general clerical support. This position interacts with residents, applicants, landlords, staff, vendors, and the public, ensuring professional communication and efficient office operations in accordance with agency policies and procedures.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage incoming calls through the office phone system and route messages appropriately
- Receive, sort and distribute mail
- Maintain professionalism and confidentiality when interacting with the public and other staff members
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
An acceptable general background check to include a local and state criminal history check. You must possess a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to utilize various types of electronic and/or manual recording and information systems used by the agency, office, or related units
- Ability to provide general support to ensure efficient operations
- Ability to follow supervisor’s directives and established procedures
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- High School diploma or GED
- Three (1) years of experience in clerical work
- General knowledge of office management
LICENSE REQUIREMENTS
- Appointees must possess a valid New Jersey driver's license when vehicle operation is required for essential job duties.
NOTE: The responsibility for ensuring that employees possess the required motor vehicle license, commensurate with the class and type of vehicles they operate, rests with the Appointing Authority.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Position may require frequent standing, stretching, bending, stooping, squatting, walking, pushing and pulling, and lifting of objects weighing up to 25 pounds or more.

If you do not reside in New Jersey, you have one year after the date of hire to relocate your residence to New Jersey. If you do not do so, you are subject to removal from your office, position or employment.
