What are the responsibilities and job description for the Production Worker position at Atlantic Candy Company?
The Production Worker performs a variety of manufacturing, packaging, and machinery duties in a food production environment while maintaining compliance with cGMP and NSF standards. Personnel must be flexible to rotate across departments to safely support operational needs, maintain food safety and quality compliance, and contribute to plant efficiency while ensuring all work is audit ready.
Responsibilities:
- Rotate through all departments based on operational needs; rotation may occur without prior notice to ensure all areas are adequately supported
- Maintain positive communication with team members and the Quality department
- Adhere to all applicable cGMP regulations, NSF standards, and company policies while performing work in GMP areas.
- Follow company food safety, operational, and food defense programs to prevent contamination and ensure product safety
- Use time efficiently and complete production line work accurately and on schedule
- Identify finished products that do not meet customer quality, food safety, or regulatory specifications
- Maintain clean, organized, and auditready work areas in accordance with SOPs, GMP, and NSF requirements
- Perform production line duties including manual lifting, packaging products, taping cases, labeling cases, and other general production duties
- Ensure all documentation (batch records, QC checks, inprocess inspections) is complete, accurate, and auditready
- Monitor own work to maintain consistent quality, safety, and compliance
- Support internal and external audits by maintaining proper records, process controls, and adherence to standards
- Production roles often require flexibility, overtime, weekends, or shift changes Schedule flexibility, including overtime, weekends, or shift changes, may be required based on operational needs.
- Complete annual food defense training and ensure food safety practices when entering production area
- All other duties as assigned
Physical Requirements:
The physical requirements described below are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position, with or without reasonable accommodation. As part of a dietary supplement manufacturing environment, this position requires regular and sustained work in industrial conditions.
Postural Activities: Walking and standing for prolonged periods, totaling 8 hours per shift.
Lifting Requirements:
- Frequently lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. oOccasionally lift and/or move 21–50 pounds.
- Occasionally lift over 50 pounds with appropriate mechanical or team assistance.
Mobility:
- Frequent bending, carrying, reaching above shoulder height, twisting, grasping, and balancing.
- Occasional kneeling and other physical movements necessary to complete production and packaging tasks.
Environmental Exposure:
- Frequent exposure (8–10 hours per shift) to heat, humidity, and airborne dust/particles associated with manufacturing operations.
This position is performed in a food manufacturing environment and may involve exposure to temperature-controlled conditions and machinery noise. Employees are required to wear designated personal protective equipment (PPE), including gloves, hairnets, beard nets, hearing protection, and safety footwear, in accordance with safety and regulatory requirements.
