Job Description
Atlantic Brain and Spine, an affiliate of Atlantic Health System, is seeking a Full-Time Front Desk Receptionist for our Neurosurgical Outpatient Offices in New Brunswick and Manalapan, NJ. We are looking for a friendly, high-energy individual who thrives in a warm, patient-focused environment and takes pride in creating an exceptional first impression for our patients and their families.
Under general supervision, this role will provide all administrative front-end office duties, as well as other functions including—but not limited to—initiating patient intake, scheduling appointments, performing insurance screening and verification processes, and patient registration.
Job Responsibilities
- Warmly greets patients and families upon arrival with a friendly, professional demeanor, ensuring they feel welcomed and cared for from the moment they enter.
- Provides necessary registration forms to patients for completion and signature, reviews for accuracy, updates patient information in EPIC, and notifies staff that the patient is ready.
- Monitors patient flow, providing timely check-in procedures, and communicates any extended wait times in a courteous, empathetic manner.
- Efficiently and professionally answers the phone, directing calls to the appropriate staff or recording messages.
- Verifies correct insurance information via insurance card and scans a copy into the chart.
- Performs daily chart scrubbing to verify patient demographics, insurance information, and other required details for upcoming appointments.
- Collects co-pays and/or outstanding balances for services at each visit in a polite, service-oriented way.
- Uses the practice management system to schedule, reschedule, and cancel patient appointments accurately.
- Completes patient disability paperwork as needed.
- Maintains a clean, inviting, and organized waiting room by sanitizing surfaces, restocking marketing items, and replenishing necessary supplies.
- Keeps the check-in area tidy, ensures equipment is functioning properly, and promptly reports any issues to the office manager.
- Performs other duties as assigned by providers, coordinators, and management in accordance with established office policies.
- Willingness to travel to additional offices to perform administrative functions as needed.
Minimum Education and/or Experience Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- At least 1 year of experience in a patient service setting.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to set priorities effectively.
- Experience in EPIC/EMR required.
- Knowledge of insurance preferred.
- Ability to float to outpatient scheduler as needed.
- Must be able to read, write, and speak English.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to foster a welcoming and supportive environment for patients and staff.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $23.00 - $28.00 per hour
