GENERAL CONTRACTOR
Overview:
The Atlanta Athletic Club is seeking an experienced and highly motivated General Contractor to oversee and manage various construction, renovation, and maintenance projects across the club’s facilities. This role requires a hands-on leader with a strong background in construction management to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards. The contractor will collaborate with architects, subcontractors, and club management, handling tasks from project planning and coordination to quality control and compliance with safety regulations. The ideal candidate will be proactive, highly organized, and skilled in managing multiple projects in a dynamic, high-traffic environment.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Manage all phases of construction and renovation projects, including planning, coordination, scheduling, and execution.
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of construction sites, ensuring adherence to project timelines, budgets, and safety standards.
- Hire, supervise, and manage subcontractors, ensuring their work meets the required specifications and quality standards.
- Collaborate with architects, designers, engineers, and other professionals to ensure that construction plans and specifications are followed accurately.
- Conduct site inspections and quality control checks to ensure work meets safety codes and regulatory standards.
- Provide regular progress reports to club management, highlighting milestones, potential delays, and any adjustments to project scope or budget.
- Ensure all necessary permits and inspections are obtained and comply with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Work closely with the Club Facilities Director to coordinate projects with minimal disruption to club operations and member experience.
- Address and resolve any issues or challenges that arise during construction, including unforeseen conditions or changes to project scope.
- Assist with the preparation of project bids, cost estimates, and contract negotiations.
- Maintain a clean and organized job site, ensuring compliance with safety protocols and environmental considerations.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Honesty, integrity, strong character, great track record of dependability and being extremely polite.
- Proven experience as a General Contractor, with a minimum of 5 years of experience in commercial or large-scale residential construction management.
- In-depth knowledge of construction processes, project management, and building codes.
- Strong leadership skills, with the ability to manage and motivate a team of contractors and subcontractors.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Proficiency in construction management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and construction drawings.
- Strong understanding of safety standards and OSHA regulations.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a focus on achieving project goals efficiently and effectively.
- Valid contractor’s license and insurance coverage required.
Experience Preferred:
- Experience working in a private club, resort, or similar facility.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent.
- Knowledge of sustainable building practices and green construction techniques.
Working Conditions:
- Full-time position with regular hours; occasional evenings or weekends may be required based on project timelines.
- Ability to work in various weather conditions as most work will be outdoors.
- Frequent onsite presence required to monitor project progress and manage contractors.
