We are currently looking for a Production Control Clerk to be based out of Merrillville, IN. Reporting to Sr. Inventory Control Manager, this person will be responsible for working with facilities and business partners throughout the organization, including Warehouse Operations, Production Leadership, Sales and SIOP partners, driving inventory accuracy and timely availability of our finished goods. The ideal candidate will have 5 years’ experience scheduling in a lean manufacturing environment. Experience in business system-based company is a plus.

As of the date of this posting, a good faith estimate of the current pay for this position is $46,400 - $63,800. Placement in the range depends on several factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, relevant experience, skills, seniority, performance, shift, travel requirements, and business or organizational needs and may change over time. Other compensation may include, but not limited to, overtime, shift differentials, bonuses, commissions, stock, and other incentives.

Reporting to Sr. Inventory Control Manager, this person will be responsible for working with facilities and business partners throughout the organization, including Warehouse Operations, Production Leadership, Sales and SIOP partners, driving inventory accuracy and timely availability of our finished goods. What you’ll do:
- Maintain Production Control methodologies in the facility, including managing existing and new part number BOM and Routing, as needed.
- Drive consistency and cost reduction through the creation and implementation of improvements to our standard work.
- Report on inventory levels, supply chain progress, procedural efficiency, and personnel issues to Senior Leadership.
- Organize and drive critical inventory tasks that help ensure the correct stocking levels are attained.
- Collaborate with Manufacturing Leadership, Scheduling, and other staff to ensure Build of Material and Routing accuracy is sustained.
- Assist with Coil Receipts, verifying accuracy.
- Assist with Outside Service Processor, OSP processing to ensure inventory accuracy.
- Maintain Production Consumable Inventory, through Cycle Counting.
- Help perform critical inventory tasks to ensure the correct number of items are in stock.
- Bachelor’s Degree in related Supply Chain or Manufacturing discipline or high-level certification (APICs, ISM) preferred.
- Extensive experience with JD Edwards WMS or similar scanning systems operations in a Manufacturing environment required.
- 5 years of Production Control experience, demonstrating a thorough working knowledge and understanding of production control services principles, concepts, theories, regulations, and practices.
- Expert oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications with a strong focus on Excel and Power BI.
- Ability to work and influence across departments and across levels within an organization.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and stressful situations effectively, adapt to changing priorities, and respond with urgency to requests while remaining focused on strategic imperatives.
- Experience with Kaizen, Lean and Six Sigma processes and projects preferred.
- Travel less than 10%. Position located on-site at our Hobart, Indiana.
- Must pass a drug screen and background.
- Ability to perform Work Center time studies on Manufacturing floor, working closely with the Production Team.
- Complete your Atkore Immersion Plan.
- Achieve a full technical understanding of Hobart’s Work Centers and the SBU’s impact.
- Understand the goals laid out for you and how they impact the operation.
- Sustain favorable cycle test results in alignment with Atkore’s financial goals.
- Suggest needed improvements to standard work.
- Participate in relevant kaizen.
- Participate in and assist with a physical inventory event at an Atkore location.
- Profile warehouse locations and manage inventory moves based on velocity of inventory.
- Assist the Manufacturing Department with Inventory and maintain Finished Good Inventory for end-of-month report out.
