What are the responsibilities and job description for the Associate position at Atkinson Law Group?
Atkinson Law Group is a boutique Bethesda firm with expertise in representing employees who have experienced discrimination at work. We prioritize expert representation, empathy for our clients, and dismantling discrimination. We are currently seeking an associate or senior associate with the following experience:
- 1-4 years (Associate) or 5-8 years (Senior Associate) of experience in employment
- law and a passion for civil rights
- The ability to be a self-starter and thrive in a fast-paced work environment that requires meeting ongoing court deadlines
- Excellent legal research and writing skills and strong attention to detail
- Excellent organizational and efficiency skills
- Experience representing employees in discrimination cases and/or a demonstrated interest in employment or civil rights law in law school
- Maryland bar membership or eligibility (attorneys without Maryland bar membership will be required to join the Maryland bar within six months of their start date)
- At least one year of experience practicing employment law is required
- Experience representing federal sector employees is preferred but not required
About the Position:
- Associate Attorneys at ALG represent clients during all stages of litigation.
- Associates write briefs, take depositions, communicate directly with clients and opposing counsel, and represent clients at hearings and trials.
- Associates serve as second chair at hearings and trials; Senior Associates may serve as first chair.
