Athens Mold & Machine is a growing manufacturer serving the tire mold industry with precision machining, manufacturing, refurbishment, and logistics services. We are seeking a highly organized and dependable Shipping & Receiving Manager to oversee all incoming and outgoing materials while ensuring accurate inventory management and efficient material flow throughout our facility. Position Summary
The Shipping & Receiving Manager is responsible for coordinating all shipping, receiving, inventory staging, and material handling activities. This role serves as the hub between production, purchasing, sales, and administration to ensure materials are received, tracked, stored, and distributed efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
Shipping & Receiving
- Load and unload trucks using forklifts and other material handling equipment.
- Inspect incoming shipments for accuracy, quantity, and condition.
- Coordinate outgoing shipments to customers, suppliers, and freight carriers.
- Maintain accurate shipping and receiving records.
Inventory & ERP Management
- Receive all incoming materials into the company ERP system, including:
- Raw materials
- Tooling
- Production supplies
- Finished products
- Maintenance and operational items
- Verify packing slips, purchase orders, and receiving documentation.
- Label raw materials and inventory using ERP-generated job tags and identification systems.
- Maintain accurate inventory locations and records.
Material Staging & Logistics
- Stage raw materials and production materials for manufacturing operations.
- Organize and manage inventory storage areas for maximum efficiency and accessibility.
- Support production scheduling by ensuring materials are available when needed.
- Assist with warehouse organization and inventory control initiatives.
Facility & Equipment Management
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized shipping and receiving area.
- Conduct routine inspections of company trucks, and trailers.
- Coordinate maintenance needs and report any issues.
- Ensure compliance with company safety procedures and housekeeping standards.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with the Plant Manager to support production requirements.
- Coordinate with the Office Manager regarding purchasing, receiving documentation, and inventory control.
- Support the Sales Team by assisting with customer shipments and delivery scheduling.
- Communicate proactively regarding material shortages, shipment delays, or inventory discrepancies.
Qualifications
Required
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience in shipping, receiving, warehouse, or inventory management.
- Experience operating forklifts and material handling equipment.
- Basic computer skills and ability to learn ERP software systems.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in a manufacturing environment.
- Valid driver's license.
Preferred
- Previous experience with ERP inventory systems.
- Manufacturing or industrial warehouse experience.
- CDL or experience operating trucks and trailers.
- Inventory control or logistics management experience.
