Athena Health Care Systems is hiring a Regional Dietitian to support the operations of our Massachusetts managed facilities!
Athena manages 15 nursing homes in Massachusetts. Candidate must be willing to travel to the facilities as needed. Salaried role up to $55 an hour, depending on experience. This role supports the dietitian and food service departments.

Experience & Education:
- Must possess an active and unencumbered Dietitian and Nutritionist license in Massachusetts.
- Current registration as a dietitian by the Committee of Dietetic Registration.
- ServSafe certification required.
- A minimum of three (3) years’ experience as a dietitian in long-term care or another healthcare setting.
- Assist in planning, developing, organizing, implementing, evaluating, and directing the food services department of each facility.
- Develop and maintain written food service policies and procedures.
- Assist the food service staff in the development and use of departmental policies and procedures.
- Assist with the interviewing and training of new Dietitians, Directors of Dining Services, and regional support.
- Complete necessary forms and evaluations to assure control of equipment and supplies.
- Conduct meetings with Dietitians, Directors of Dining Services, and regional team to provide education when necessary and update them on new policies and procedures.
- Travel to assigned facilities to provide on-site support to dietitian and dining staff.
- Assist in developing methods for determining quality and quantity of food served.
- Review grievances, as necessary, and assist with determining and implementing resolutions.
- Make written reports/recommendations to the Administrator as necessary concerning the operation of the food service department.
- Assist with the development and implementation of plans of correction for food service deficiencies.
- Support the Director of Dining Services with menu creation, staff scheduling, etc. as requested or deemed necessary.
- Assure that menus are accurately adhered to and appropriate substitutes are made per policy.
- Assist with the development and updating of job descriptions.
- Must possess an active and unencumbered Dietitian and Nutritionist license in Massachusetts.
- Must be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language.
- Must be willing to travel to assigned facilities frequently.
- Must be able to read and interpret dietary cost reports, financial data, etc.
- Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
- Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel and the general public.
