Position Summary
The Counselor / Case Manager is responsible for supporting the personal, behavioral, and transitional success of cadets enrolled in the program. The Counselor / Case Manager provides mediation, guidance, and skill development while monitoring cadet progress and supporting positive behavior. This position works closely with cadets, families, staff, and community partners to ensure cadets receive appropriate support services and remain on track toward program completion and post-program goals. The Counselor / Case Manager also assists with alumni follow-up and documentation requirements.

Key Responsibilities
Cadet Support and Progress Monitoring
- Assess cadet progress throughout the program, including behavioral, social, and personal development.
- Participate in cadet intervention meetings and provide recommendations for support strategies.
- Develop and implement behavior improvement plans (BIPs) or other support plans when necessary.
- Provide mediation between cadets to resolve interpersonal conflicts and promote positive peer relationships.
- Teach and reinforce appropriate conflict resolution and communication skills.
- Support cadets in developing accountability and problem-solving strategies.
- Deliver structured lessons on topics such as coping skills, emotional regulation, communication, and life skills.
- Provide instruction or workshops related to job readiness, workplace expectations, and professional behavior.
- Reinforce positive decision-making and resilience strategies that support cadet success.
- Collaborate with program staff and administration to coordinate support services and interventions.
- Serve as a liaison between families, staff, and external support services when appropriate.
- Facilitate and coordinate virtual appointments between cadets and outside service providers or partner agencies when required.
- Supervise cadets during assigned activities, including community service events and program functions.
- Reinforce program expectations and maintain a safe and structured environment during off-site activities.
- Conduct follow-up calls with program alumni to verify employment, education enrollment, or other post-program outcomes.
- Maintain documentation and records verifying alumni employment or continued education as required for program reporting.
- Attend and actively participate in staff meetings, case review meetings, and cadet intervention meetings.
- Review applicant files to ensure all required documentation is complete prior to admission consideration.
- Ensure applicant information complies with program eligibility requirements and established admission criteria.
- Conduct structured interviews with applicants to assess readiness for the program, motivation for enrollment, and ability to participate in a structured environment.
- Participate in admissions review discussions when applicable.
- Maintain accurate and confidential documentation related to applicant screenings and interviews.
- Bachelor’s degree in counseling, social work, psychology, education, or a related field
- Experience working with adolescents or young adults.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with staff, families, and community partners.
- Strong organizational and documentation skills.
- Maintain confidentiality and professional ethical standards when working with cadets and families.
- Demonstrate reliability, professionalism, and sound judgment.
