Patient Ratio: 1:5 (days/nights), 1:4 (weekends)
Pay: $2,066.40/week (plus $2,500 completion bonus per contract, up to $7,500 after three contracts)
Job Description
The ED Boarders / MS-Telemetry RN provides care for patients holding in an emergency overflow area awaiting inpatient placement. This role manages a wide variety of diagnoses and requires strong MS/Tele experience. Nurses in this assignment will care for stable to moderately acute patients and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure timely, safe, and effective care.
This unit functions as a holding area for multiple specialties across the hospital excluding critical care, requiring flexibility and strong clinical assessment skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to ED boarder and telemetry patients
- Monitor, interpret, and respond to cardiac rhythms
- Conduct thorough patient assessments and document care in Epic
- Administer medications, IV therapies, and manage peripheral and central lines
- Support respiratory care including nasal cannula, BiPAP/CPAP, and oxygen therapy
- Perform phlebotomy, wound care, and assist with ADLs as needed
- Respond to rapid response/code situations
- Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary care teams
- Follow isolation precautions and infection prevention protocols
- Float to other MS/Tele units as needed
Qualifications
- Active RN license (MD or Compact required)
- Minimum 2 years recent MS/Tele experience required
- BLS, CPI, NIHSS required (CPI provided during orientation)
- ACLS preferred
- Epic charting experience preferred (training provided if needed)
- Ability to work every other weekend
- Strong cardiac telemetry and medical-surgical experience
- Comfortable floating within scope to similar units
- Proof of COVID-19 vaccination and recent tuberculosis test required
