What are the responsibilities and job description for the Designated Representative-Sanitarian position at Atascosa County?
Sanitarian Job Requirements:
- Possess and maintain a current Designated Representative license through TCEQ.
- Enforce TCEQ rules and regulations of the Texas Health and Safety Code, Chapter 366, the Texas Water Code, and Atascosa County pertaining to on-site sewage facility (OSSF).
- Assist Atascosa County in amending their order with TCEQ, ordinance, or resolution when necessary.
- Conduct Subdivision reviews in conformance with TCEQ regulations for floodplain and minimum lot size requirements.
- Review variance requests to ensure compliance with the requirements of Atascosa County and TCEQ.
- Maintain a working knowledge of the design and calculations of all types of OSSF systems and the suitability of each system for different soil classes and situations.
- Receipting, depositing, and reporting of all money received for permits.
- Approve only OSSF permit applications and planning materials that conform to the
requirements of TCEQ and Atascosa County. Ensuring they meet requirements for
floodplain, system sizing, soil class type for the type of proposed system, and minimum
setback requirements from property lines and water sources.
- Issue authorizations to construct for approved permits.
- Verify, before initial inspection, that the installer possesses a current license and correct classification for constructing the permitted or planned OSSF.
- Conduct construction inspections to ensure the system is built as designed and approved.
- Approve only construction that conforms with TCEQ and Atascosa County rules and
regulations.
- Ensure collection of all OSSF-related fees.
- Ensure maintenance of accurate records of permits, fees, inspections, reports, and
complaints.
Salary & Benefits:
- Pay will be between $24 and $27 per hour based on experience ($51,400-$56,400/year)
